The Race: Day 5/6/7

I haven't been able to post much lately because everything has been so hectic! Instead of doing posts for each of these three days i thought I would just group them and put a picture above for each day. First off is Day 5. This was shot out in San Ramon at our Assistant Director's home. It was almost exactly what we were looking for and had some useful brush as you can see in the picture. The only real problem we had that night was not getting our stuff together right away and that cars were constantly going by. Literally every 30 seconds a few cars would drive by. Generally cars are rare but we think it was all the traffic after the Giants game! The lighting was perfect all through these scenes and i was very happy with how it all turned out!

Day 6 was another eventful day. It started at 7am which, for most, was the absolute last thing we wanted to be doing. Luckily we had a great crew and shots were getting done on one or two takes. We shot around Dublin initially then moved to the Livermore hills. The land we had access to was super far back in Livermore but the scenery was beautiful! Of course, when the day started out it was very foggy so none of us cared to put sun screen on. By the time we were shooting in Livermore, it was sunny like any other day and none of us put sun screen on. Needless to say, we didn't learn our lessons about sun burns the day we shot on the track. However we had no issues and the footage looked great.

Day 7 was probably the worst shoot day yet. Murphy's law had to come at us eventually, and I guess when it was 50 degrees out and as we were missing the premiere of Harry Potter, it decided why not now? Almost everything went wrong one right after the other. First there was miss communication so lights were not set up in the right area. Then one of our actors barely made it to set in time for the sunset shot. Then audio went down. Then audio went down again. Then audio kind of worked but not really. Then everything was fine with audio and well, you get the picture. Towards the end, the camera wasn't liking the freezing cold weather but luckily we were able to get off all the shots. But wait, there's more! When we went to go pack up, everything we had left out in case we needed it, was soaked because of the dew in the air! But the road back down the mountain was very fun, especially while playing the Indiana Jones ride theme soundtrack! Last day of shooting is Monday!!
